Convoy Guardian is an offline mesh bridge-strike prevention system for oversize and heavy-haul convoys. It pairs two independent detection methods with a self-forming radio mesh that alerts every crew member in under 100 milliseconds, and records every reading to an audit-grade blackbox. It is made by SolTec Innovation and is the "Move It." layer of the RoadScope Route Intelligence platform.

How does dual detection work?

Most bridge-strike systems pick one bet: either they predict the strike, or they detect it. Convoy Guardian runs both, because they fail in different places. Method 01 is a LiDAR sensor on the lead vehicle that measures overhead clearance continuously and fires the mesh before the load reaches the structure — which works when the corridor is known and the approach is clean. Method 02 is a smart impact pole on the load whose accelerometers register the instant of contact and strobe a 360° beacon — which works when the structure was never surveyed, when the approach angle hides it, or when the LiDAR is not fitted at all.

Run either alone, or both in parallel for defense-in-depth. Both feed the same mesh and both write to the same blackbox log, so the evidence trail is identical either way. See the side-by-side comparison.

What happens during an alert?

  • Sense — LiDAR reads a clearance below threshold, or the pole registers contact
  • Alert — the mesh notifies every crew device in under 100 ms, with no cell dependency
  • Prevent — drivers slow, stop, or reroute; escort confirms and acknowledges
  • Log — the reading, the alert, and every acknowledgment are written to the blackbox
